The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Office of Inspector General, is seeking an experienced and qualified paraprofessional to fulfill the responsibilities of an Office Support Specialist for the Bureau of Investigations in the Complaint Intake Unit. The duties include maintaining confidential information, spreadsheets, and reports from various investigations, disseminating incoming correspondence, and coordinating office processes. We are seeking an individual with strong office experience and customer service skills to add to our professional team. Qualified applicants should have extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation, including, logic computer language and programs. This position will be working independently and set priorities to maintain a smooth flow of work assignments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as an Office Support Specialist working for the Bureau of Investigations within the Complaint Intake Unit
  • Keyboards and archives a variety of correspondence and forms utilizing a personal computer, software applications, data storage and scanning/uploading files into internal databases and e-mail
  • Answers the OIG Complaint Intake hotline
  • Gathers information for investigators, analysts, quality control reviewers and other Office of Inspector General (OIG) staff, including Internal Affairs
  • Maintains records, spreadsheets, and reports for agency tracking
  • Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college and one year of office experience or completion of high school and three years of office experience or three years of independent business experience
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 words per minute


Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
