What you'll be doing...

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Technologist Strategist to take up the position of Technology Innovation with our Technology and Product Development Team. This pivotal role will serve as a strategic leader, advancing Verizon's technological innovations, and influencing our strategic direction in emerging technologies, new product development, and driving groundbreaking digital experiences.

The chosen candidate will have the unique opportunity to pioneer new frontiers in technology, carving out our position at the forefront of the industry. You will play a vital role in instilling a culture of innovation, establishing our innovation labs as hubs of new technologies beyond the network.

As a strategic mastermind, you will work cross-functionally, serving as the critical link between our teams, guiding the development of AI clusters, XR Production, M&E Thought Tech Leadership, and creating new avenues for commercial opportunities for Verizon in this space.

Moreover, you will assume leadership in the design and development of new products and services to cater to the specific requirements of the Media and Entertainment industries. You will propel the incubation of innovative solutions, capitalizing on Verizon’s public and private 5G networks, and Mobile Edge Compute.

In this role, you will be a cornerstone of Verizon's innovative digital experiences, directing cutting-edge work in Verizon’s video technologies domain. By harmonizing technology and vision, you will address the challenges of technology adoption, identifying new revenue streams, and delivering unrivaled experiences to our partners and clients. You will be responsible for driving the design and architecture of technologies that would need to be retrofitted in our Innovation Labs to support development for internal and external partners.

This role demands a potent blend of technical prowess, strategic acumen, and visionary leadership. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in game engine driven technologies such as VR, AR, Dome, and event technologies, as well as Virtual Production and XR production. In addition, you should demonstrate an exceptional capacity to identify emerging technology trends and translate them into strategic business opportunities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting the architecture design, plans, and development of new products and services to meet M&E industry requirements.

  • Developing and incubating innovative solutions leveraging public and private 5G networks as well as Mobile Edge Compute (AWS Wavelength, AWS Outpost, Azure, and Google Cloud).

  • Advising and consulting on technical projects with other team members.

  • Creating, advising on and overseeing the technology roadmap for the Verizon Innovation Labs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston.

What we're looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Must be an expert in the XR domain including VR, AR, Dome, and event technologies, as well as Virtual Production and XR production.

  • Experience in constructing cutting-edge production studios, with a particular focus on XR and virtual production.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • 20 or more years of work experience in emerging media technology.

  • Astute at identifying new technology trends.

  • Significant project management experience.

  • Strong understanding of Networking and Edge computing.

  • Demonstrable expertise in game engine architecture.

  • Ability to leverage partnerships to realize innovative technical projects.

  • Proven experience in building, leading, and managing teams in the creation and delivery of complex technical projects, particularly in the fields of XR and immersive technology.

  • Demonstrable experience in leading the technical production of large-scale events.

  • Entrepreneurial experience in founding, leading and pioneering technical projects.

  • Proven ability to invent and refine new tools and production processes to meet evolving industry needs.

  • Experience in creating immersive experiences using state-of-the-art technology, such as VR, AR & XR.

  • Proficiency in the production of live-action video and post-production.

  • An expert in broadcast production architecture including SMPTE 2110 and PTP

  • Experience in consulting and collaborating with high-profile clients and partners in the creation and realization of complex technical projects.

  • Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problem.

  • Experience with developing insights, presenting, and influencing strategic decisions using data.

  • Possess analytical capability, with the proven ability to structure business cases around a high-level strategic vision.

  • Ability to effectively engage/interact/communicate with all levels of leadership

  • Proven track record of working with cross functional teams and technology vendors.

  • Passion for building new products and superb customer experiences.

  • Experience in building strong relationships with key stakeholders

  • Verbal and written communications skills, as well as superior analytical skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Proven technical acumen in the areas of private and commercial wireless networks and edge computing.

  • Ability to design and implement plans to meet business objectives, monitor attainment of objectives, and adapt quickly to changing business conditions.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington work location, the compensation range for this position is between $159,000.00 and $295,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
