Work Schedule
Monday – Friday 06:30 am to 3:00 pm in accordance with departmental needs.

Primary Purpose of Position
Provides security to resident students and their guest or visitors. Enforces Housing and Residence Life policies and patrols residence halls as a member of a 24/7 patrol to ensure coverage of all residences.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require a valid N.C. driver’s license.
University Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency and one year experience in security enforcement or protection work. Some positions may require a valid N.C. driver’s license.

Essential Job Duties
- Patrols, monitors, and guards an area with a higher assessed risk, to include the light rail platform on campus and other areas as determined by the needs of Police & Public Safety.
- Provides support for special events.
- Controls and directs traffic of people and vehicles.
- Erects barricades.
- Provides motorist assistance.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using a variety of security and enforcement equipment, which may include parking meters, vehicle boots, gates, alarm panels, radios, cameras, and electronic devices. Uses the full functionality of security/surveillance systems.
- May perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Keeps abreast of developments in security practices.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Direct responsibility for secure handling of sensitive and/or confidential information.
- Direct responsibility for the care, safety, and security of vulnerable populations (e.g., non-student minors or animals).
- Direct access to, or responsibility for, cash and cash equivalents, credit card information, University property disbursements or receipts, or extensive authority for committing the financial resources of the University., Master key access to buildings, residence halls, or other secure facilities.
- Direct access to, or responsibility for, information or areas designated by the University as safety or security sensitive.
- Direct responsibility for daily, or regular, operation of State or University owned vehicles.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Knowledge of property security and enforcement procedures.
- Knowledge of the policies, rules, and regulations applicable to the property being guarded, sufficient to explain, apply, and enforce the policies, rules, and regulations of the University.
- Prior experience working in the law enforcement field or closely related area.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
The position will require a valid N.C. driver’s license.
