Site Coordinator

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to supervise our After School programs in the City of Orange. Must be able to lead students and staff and ensure the operation of a high-quality after-school program. Experience working with children, event planning, and basic knowledge of sports and arts is a plus. Must establish, maintain, and model strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Starting Pay: $23.00 per hour

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be active at the school site for a minimum of (7) hours per day during program hours. The Site Coordinator will be present during the afternoon program.
  • Work closely with school staff, principals, Administration, District Coordinators, teacher liaisons, and custodians.
  • Arranges site visitations for school district visitors and makes constructive contact with parents and other local community members.
  • Establish an ongoing recruitment drive to ensure attendance numbers are maximized at all times. Attend school parent nights and other PR/Recruitment opportunities.
  • Develops procedures for keeping parents informed and involved in program activities and other matters affecting parent, student, and school relationships.
  • Plan the program monthly, weekly, and daily for all student participants. Strive to ensure a stimulating and fun learning environment while including imperative program components (Physical Education, Enrichment Activities, Academic Assistance). Be creative and aim to make your program a ‘model program.’ Develops, implements, and evaluates enrichment activities at the school site.
  • Always dress/behave appropriately and ensure all staff meets AYA's high standards of dress and behavior.
  • Attend AYA and district meetings and training, as required, including both initial and ongoing training.
  • Familiarize yourself with AYA/District Policies & Procedures Manual and always adhere to its parameters.
  • Informs the District Coordinators of school site issues, concerns, and needs.
  • Reviews and approves time sheets for Program Leaders/coaches and resolves payroll challenges.
  • Prepares reports, annual budget, daily snack counts, monthly calendars, monthly newsletters, and memorandums, and conducts all practice emergency drills as required.
  • Maintain student-to-staff ratios.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • 2 years of management experience working with youth and families.
  • 2 years’ experience working with school age children, preferably in an after-school setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • First-Aid/CPR Certified or must be attained within 90 days of employment
  • Must have dependable transportation (some driving is required for this position)
  • Ability to manage a group of students: This includes keeping students on task, resolving conflicts, and providing feedback.
  • Minimum six months experience working with a group of 15 or more students in a classroom setting, after-school, or recreational environment.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Ideal candidates will have completed a minimum of 48 College/University Units – or must pass a District administered test.
  • Commit to a full school year.
  • Must be vocal and able to interact with children of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must posses or acquire Mandated Reporter Training
  • Must successfully pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
  • Must pass TB test
