Cross Enterprise Procurement Group Plastic Packaging – Procurement Director – NAFTA

The incumbent for this position must be located in Atlanta, GA

This position works for the CEPG (Cross Enterprise Procurement Group) Managing Director – Plastic Packaging. The position manages PET resin and plastic packaging, primarily in the NAFTA region, for the Operating Committee Bottlers and also the other “General” Bottlers who participate in the Plastic Packaging initiative. The position provides leadership for activities in the NAFTA and interfaces with other Core Team of The Coca-Cola Company Associates and an Extended Team of Bottler Representatives who jointly handle the Plastic Procurement across all Geographic Groups. This position will be based in Atlanta.

Function Specific Activities/Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of the CEPG plastics strategy for the NAFTA region and participate in Global strategy creation.
  • Provide PET value chain direction and leadership to the TCCC and Bottlers within the region, including raw material cost forecasts to company-owned operations and relevant third parties (e.g., bottlers).
  • Negotiate contracts for the purchase of circa $1 billion annual System spend regionally.
    • Manage contracts and agreements.
    • Usage of Price Risk Management Tools
  • Represent CEPG Plastic Packaging with R&D.
    • As determined by the CEPG-MD prioritize development work with R&D, QSE and Engineering functions
    • Support commercial evaluation of projects.
    • Lead supplier selection and relationship to support identified projects.
    • Provide commercial leadership in the contracting of identified projects, as required.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on plastic packaging in region.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development, as appropriate, in order to strengthen System expertise in PET procurement.
  • Provide supplier assessment and develop regional supplier portfolio within the CEPG global envelope
  • Support key sustainability initiatives covering recycled PET use, assess and develop strategy for new recycling Technologies to reach our global “World Without Waste “ Goals

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

Related Work Experience: 10 or more years related work experience.


Language: Spanish preferred

Technical Skills:

Cross Functional Relationships: Knowledge of and ability to articulate
to senior management the benefits of supporting cross-functional
objectives to achieve the business plan.


Bottler/Business Unit Plans & Strategies: Knowledge of information
used and ability to evaluate bottler/business unit's business plans and
strategies to develop procurement strategies that enable delivery of
those goals and objectives.

Best Practices: Knowledge of procurement, industry and business best
practices to guide thought leadership and ensure effective procurement
strategies. Includes the ability to recognize value creation
opportunities within the supply chain.


Product/Service Knowledge: Knowledge of products/services (e.g.,
PET resin, Injection molding, blow molding) specific to a given industry, the product/service attributes, competitive positioning and unbundled cost
components. Includes the ability to use financial models, industry
knowledge and the client's requirements to formulate the best
procurement decision.

Competitive Analysis: Knowledge of sources for competitive analysis
including supplier and industry data to build competitive intelligence,
inform business planning and optimize decision-making. Includes the
ability to create and analyze industry cost models in order to assess
suppliers' competitive capabilities.


Strategic Sourcing Strategy: Knowledge of strategic sourcing
strategies by commodity, product, service to ensure that formal
supplier agreements activate the elements of the sourcing strategy and
support delineated performance standards. Includes the ability to
create selection criteria to qualify suppliers for the bid process.
