SUMMARY

Peace Over Violence is a non-profit organization committed to building healthy relationships, families, and communities free from sexual domestic and interpersonal violence. Under the supervision of the Prevention Associate Division Manager and in Partnership with our partner agency Para Los Ninos; Peace Over Violence is seeking a Community Ambassadors to facilitate presentations on the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) and provide case management support to community members in need of individual support and services. The Community Ambassador facilitate COVID-19 presentations that provide an overview of the virus and highlight the importance of vaccination. The CAN team also supports increasing access to COVID-19 vaccinations site and monthly mobile vaccination clinics with partners that include AltaMed, Passport Health and DPH. Assist community members with scheduling vaccination appointments and distributing up to date information about testing centers. Provide support to Neighborhood Leadership Groups (NLGs) as part of our strategy 1 efforts to strengthen leadership capacity building and strengthen protective factors such as: parental resilience, social connections, linkage to concrete support in times of need, knowledge enhancement of parenting and child development, as well as promote the social emotional well-being of children. Support monthly resource distribution events for program participants enrolled in the program.

DUTIES

  • Collaborative with partner agencies and community members to build both community and systemic capacity to prevent and address the impact of trauma.

  • Participate in all required and mandatory meetings led by funder Department of Mental Health and program trainings.

  • Engage and provide information through fieldwork that included event tabling, outreach of youth, partners and community agencies about POV services and the project at community fairs, events and other outreach activities.

  • Provide workshops and presentations to youth and the general public about prevention of COVID 19, vaccines, local testing centers, Community Resiliency Model, Teen Dating Violence, Rape Prevention Education and other topics per community needs.

  • Work win collaboration with the other Community Ambassadors, project staff and key partners to increase awareness of community needs and ensure referrals are made to social support resources and services including mental health referrals when necessary.

  • Engage with youth in the community, provide information and assist them in navigating social assistance program and resources. • Document activities, collect data, prepare reports and results in a effective manger while stickly adhering to policies and procedures as outlined by data evaluation team.

  • This is a filed position that is not eligible for remote work.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be proficient and comfortable around computers and other forms of technology

  • Must have completed 40 hours sexual assault and Domestic violence training

  • Experience in providing Trauma informed services

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time

  • Must show proof of COVID 19 vaccination.

  • Good social, organizational and diplomacy skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high production environment

  • Ability to get along well with a diverse group of people as a team member and to feel comfortable working with diverse communities

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and accurately, with confidence

  • Must have a valid California driver's license

  • Bilingual language skills are an advantage
