The Sunnova Installations Inspection Technician Position
Sunnova Energy is searching for an Inspection Technician to join our Sunnova Installations team. Sunnova owns and maintains a distributed fleet of renewable energy systems across 30+ states and several U.S. territories. We utilize a highly skilled team of electricians, technicians, and helpers as well as to build, maintain, and service our fleet.
The Inspection Technician’s primary responsibility is to support Sunnova Installations activities by scheduling and attending inspections with local jurisdictions, developing positive relationships with local inspectors, and ensuring quality construction of Sunnova installs while providing excellent customer service

Sunnova Installations Inspection Technician Responsibilities
Work with Internal Project operations to quickly and efficiently schedule inspections with local jurisdictions post installation
Attend inspections when mandatory and ensure the installation is ready for inspection – to include paperwork on-site and system checked with any minor deficiencies corrected
Collect and/or retrieve inspection sign-off documentation from the customer’s home or local jurisdiction and upload accordingly in the system
Document and track deficiencies found and corrected on-site prior to inspection in order to provide feedback to Sunnova Installation Field Managers, Foreman, and crew members
Pick-up and drop permit applications as needed for local jurisdictions that require in person permit submittals
Maintains ongoing knowledge on product types and services Sunnova Installation teams install in order to provide appropriate knowledge to inspectors, as necessary
Maintains compliance with all Sunnova Safety policies and practices
Provides training to customers about system operation and maintenance
Effectively communicates with local jurisdictions and customers to schedule inspections in a timely manner post installation
Documents key communications in appropriate Sunnova software
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED)
1+ years’ experience as an electrician, solar installer, or solar maintenance technician
Current, valid Driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English
Working knowledge of the NEC
Preferred Qualifications
Formal apprenticeship and/or vocational training
1 + years’ experience in the solar electric industry
Bilingual, English and Spanish
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Organized and maintains a professional appearance
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Working Conditions
Location varies with job site
Estimated 80+% travel time
Driving required; needs valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Physical Requirements
Long hours spent outside on residential rooftops, driving to customer residences, some ground and rooftop work
Various weather conditions include cold and snowy, hot and humid, and everything in between; must be comfortable working in different environments
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; assistance may be provided for oversized items
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive for up to 8 hours at a time
Work postures include reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, and handling objects above/below the shoulder
